The truth is what they want

Recently I read an advisory from one of the India's largest job portal on how to answer the interview questions. Many students will be in dilema..about how to go about this process. Well..I would like to share my views, for whatever it is worth:

Firstly, always tell the truth and nothing but the truth. Interviewers are smart people and they value honesty. In anyways..if they can makeout that you are lying, they may discount your entire interview.

Secondly, when you lie, especially if you are a freshier, it shows.

Suppose, for example, if the interviewer asks the question, "what are your weaknesses?" he/she is not expecting a big list and is easily put off by a clever answer. The purpose of this question is to asses whether you have identified your weaknesses or do u have an action plan. There is no need to tell the whole truth unless the interviewer grills you.

For example if you are an engineering student and took 3 attempts to pass ET exam, do not disclose the number of attempts unless asked to. When the truth hurt your candidature, speak concisely and to the point, so that the interviewer can move to the next question.
well..these are just my thoughts. Dont need to follow the whole thing posted.

I agree with your suggestion - do not misrepresent the facts. Simply failing to mention the unfavorable ones is the fault of the interviewer - he/she didn't ask and so you didn't tell!

Besides, you always have to present your best side at an interview. When asked about weaknesses, identify something that is actually a strength in disguise... something that the organization can put to use or can easily correct.
