Education system

Taken from one of the news Paprs

It always makes me think, why do we stress sooo much on grades achieved in one fortnight, which was inevitably preceded by a whole year of nagging and threatning and late nights buried in books? And worse, why do we start this routine from tender a age?

Why has tenth 12th grade evolved into morose, stressful period of life? Why should these children be leftout of the activities ment for the rest of the school? Huh.

I remember my 10th and 12th grade studies..I used to study and study leaving all the physical activities aside, imbibing the interesting and the important. I think 80% in 10th grade will not make much of a difference in your life.

I strongly feel.. that our education system must be changed and let the 10th and 12th grade students also get some respite, giving more importance to physical activities, cutting down the syllabus, giving more importance to ethics, principles and morals.

I know i dream things that never were. And I say "why not?"

Good. Well, cutting down syllabus is impossible. I mean we cant afford to cut down the syllabus because there are more new things to learn every year.

But yes, we need to make it more complete. I mean, allround development should be the target and not just studies i.e., mere percentages or ranks.

The percentages aren't really important. You just need the 12th marks to get into college, then the college GPA/percentage to apply for graduate studies, and for your first job they look at both the undergraduate and graduate marks.

If you want to do something for which there's a lot of competition then you do really need to be the 'brightest star in the sky' to get selected... except in job interviews - TCS & Infosys only hire average performers in most placement drives as they believe the high achievers are more likely to find greener pastures.
