Every day in Newspapers I come accross, "woman sets self ablaze" or "woman's body fished out" or "woman commits suicide due to financial problems".Its the woman who suffers largely. Descrimination against the female Gender is alive and well in India.
Illegal dowry's are paid to the family of the Groom and cost of the dowry goes up with the financial status of the family! Is this not enough? Huh. We are living in such a country? However, a law was passed long ago prohibiting the reveal of gender feotus but the law's are not well enforced. But, its still the same in rural areas atleast.
And why not, boys recieve more food, Good clothing, and are admitted to hospitals for treatments more frequently and recieve more education than girls. What a discremenation!
Moreover, even in the Movies(esp. south indian movies)..women are potrayed as less able than men. Nuthing but, women who always CRY. The roles given to men are highly dominating wherein it is always the man who saves women. It is the Hero who rescues the Heroine from being molested by a grp of boys.
And , there is always this famous line "Girls should behave like girls" and "Girls should be decent". What does this mean? For example, Girls are not allowed to wear skimppy clothes whereas, boys can wear anything and everything.
And also, a woman can neither drink nor smoke in public places and if she does, she is considered as the most boldest, wildest woman on earth. Haha
Well, Not that I am fond of, But, my only concern is the bias. well, Govt should takecare, should educate more people against the descrimination through media and educative campaingns ultimately supressing the male dominated society!

Dowry Death are myths created by Media.
Every year, 22000 men are driven to suicide by their wives and all these females go scot free.
Feminism is the greatest social evil today.
The issue isn't for "women in India", but rather for "Indian women wherever they are". But there's a positive side to it too! When a friend tells you about a girl smoking by the stairway, the first thought is, "Nah, it can't be an Indian; after years of being told that smoking is bad for health, they wouldn't even pick up a cigarette - that's the kind of discipline they maintain."
With all the discrimination that you state, there's also the respect that women get. When relatives visit, they stop to talk to the parents and then the girl in the family. Women also get the first plate at a lunch or dinner party (for breakfast, it's usually the hungry who reach out for the plate first). Of course, in the rural areas it's exactly as you've stated it.
Sumanth, I dont think so.
Nitin, yeah true.
Long time, no post! What's new?
Nuthing much ya..Been busy for a while. you tell me..whatsup?
A lot has been happening at my end. I'm learning the entire software development lifecycle - right from meeting the customer to getting the code through to testing.
No, I'm not meeting the customer - I just stand by and act as a part of the backdrop while the PM talks to the customer.
Hi! I've replied to your comment on my blog.
BTW, there have been a lot of protests lately - first reservation, then the 'blank noise' protest... both had some representation at the HiTech City. CyberTowers and the HiTech City are more a symbol of youth than anything else. I wonder if the senior management staff feels left out since they don't fit into the age group of most people there.
Saw ur blog just now:) Anyways, I dont update my blog regularly..Once in a month or soemthing..

People in the technology industry face a lot of ethical questions. I have new issues that test my moral integrity at least twice a day!
How about shedding some light on the choices that you make and how you feel about them?
Hey Deepti!
Things have been going really well at work for me lately. I requested for a friend I graduated with to be put on our team and it was approved!
Yesterday was our first day together and the chemistry is so good that we can quite easily replace half the existing team!!!
BTW, what industry are you in? Software development?
I've been blogging a lot lately... (lately = past 3 weeks)
It's the end of my first ever week at work. The pay is non-existent but the work is an inexhaustible unlimited supply.
The experience is pretty good since we get to see how much of theory actually works in practice.
Hi! It's been over a month and no new posts :-(
Oh no, another women's libber.
Still waiting on that post you said you would post. Encore!
I happen to be in the city of Hyderabad, which may not the best place in the world to be, but it's home!
I have moved to B'lore this month.
Hey Deepti! Good to know that you're in Bangalore.
I'll bet you've got more parking space there than we have in Hyderabad, because it's impossible for things to get any worse! I'm not sure if you've ever been to Hyderabad, but here people park on the roads! Mumbai has a section of the road dedicated to parking and for pedestrians, but that's not the case here.
I'm beginning to get a picture of reality as I've stepped into the workplace.
I'm starting with a tiny little firm, complete with it's own set of financial problems and I must admit that this is fun... more fun than my batchmates at large corporations have with their days at work.
Pretty soon, I'll be negotiating a contract with them to catch up with the action... at this very moment, my contract expired and so they aren't paying me, but I still show up at the office where half the people don't know that I'm neither a trainee nor an employee! My project manager is aware and so is the H.R. department, so it's nothing illegal though - the H.R. department even re-activated my access card for me!
Either way, it's cheaper for them to let me come by and hang out than to hire somebody to do whatever it is that I do here.
Just a correction to make... the statement "I'm starting with a tiny little firm" should've been "I'm starting at a tiny little firm"... I didn't start my own firm, I'm only working for one! :-)
Hey!
